A 50-year-old woman had been diagnosed with dermatomyositis 20 years earlier.

Treatment with methotrexate and prednisone resulted in remission of myopathy, but the patient continued to have an inflammatory skin disease.

For the last 10 years, she had progression of hard, mobile, painless subcutaneous nodules.

The presentation was consistent with dermatomyositis-associated calcinosis, which can also be seen in disorders such as systemic sclerosis (scleroderma).

The calcifications progressed during treatment with infliximab.
