Facial Rash in Dermatomyositis. What Other Clues?

This facial rash, known as the heliotrope rash, is one of several skin signs that are pathognomic of dermatomyositis. A violaceous discoloration of the eyelids is characteristic, and may be associated with a more extensive facial rash with a photosensitive distribution.
