(VIDEO) Ultrasound can trump the DAS28 in judging the equation between rheumatoid arthritis symptoms and joint signs when making treatment decisions. James Dale MD describes his study reported at the American College of Rheumatology meeting.

An ultrasound assessment can add valuable information to the DAS28 measure in assessing the severity of rheumatoid arthritis, revealing progression in the absence of new symptoms or lack of joint signs despite continuing pain, according to James Dale, MD.  Here he describes the study presented at the American College of Rheumatology meeting in which he and his colleagues discovered the usefulness of ultrasound in making treatment decisions in RA.
