Slideshow

In this slideshow, we take a look at vaccination recommendations recently published in the journal Best Practice & Research Clinical Rheumatology .

Many vaccines are safe and effective for immunocompromised patients with autoimmune inflammatory rheumatic conditons. Since these patients are often at higher risk for infections, they should be vaccinated when appropriate with the recommendation of a rheumatologist. In this slideshow, we take a look at vaccination recommendations recently published in the journal Best Practice & Research Clinical Rheumatology by Australian researchers. For a comparison analysis, Harvard Medical School physicians Camille N. Kotton, M.D., and Kevin L. Winthrop, M.D., MPH, recently published a review, "Immunizations in autoimmune inflammatory rheumatic disease in adults," on UpToDate.com for a U.S. audience.
