Is there a connection between rising rates of obesity and rising rates of total knee replacement in this country?

That’s the question we asked of Elena Losina, PhD, who recently presented the results of her study on this subject at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery annual meeting. In the next few minutes, Dr. Losina examines factors fueling the rising “popularity” of knee replacement surgery. Dr Losina is Associate Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Harvard Medical School and co-director of Orthopedics and Arthritis Center for Outcomes Research at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston.
