T1-weighted MRI may be a highly specific and reliable test for diagnosing SpA.
Laloo and fellow researchers in Canada and Belgium found that intradiscal high signal intensity on T1-weighted magnetic resonance (MR) images, vertebral corner bridging, and transdiscal ankylosis appear to be specific and reliable signs of early axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA) in patients with inflammatory back pain.1 Scroll through the slides for the details of the study and the take-home points for clinicians.
