The correct answer is 50%. Conducted by a team at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, researchers found that patients with serum folate levels less than 4.3 ng/mL, were at greater risk of dying from cardiovascular disease as compared to patients with levels of at least 4.3 ng/mL.

In "ACR Issues COVID-19 Treatment Guidance for Rheumatic Disease Patients," we highlight the treatment guidance, which includes guidance for ongoing treatment of stable patients with no SARS-CoV-2 exposure or infection, for patients with stable disease who have been exposed to SARS-CoV-2 (without known infection), and for rheumatic disease patients with a confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection. In which case should immunosuppressants, non-IL-6 biologics, and JAK inhibitors be stopped?

Patients with stable disease who have been exposed to SARS-CoV-2 (without known infection) should temporarily stop immunosuppressants, non-IL-6 biologics, and JAK inhibitors should be stopped temporarily, pending a negative test result for SARS-CoV-2 or after 2 weeks without COVID-19 infection symptoms.

Maria C. Schneeweiss, M.D., of Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston, and colleagues found that patients with the inflammatory skin condition hidradenitis suppurativa are at higher risk of developing rheumatoid arthritis and other inflammatory arthritides, such as ankylosing spondylitis and psoriatic arthritis.

In "Biologics Help Maintain Bone Density in RA," bone mineral density was preserved over how long in patients with rheumatoid arthritis who were treated with biological and synthetic DMARDS.

Researchers reported in the journal Rheumatology that it was preserved for a three-year period, but declined in those who received only conventional-synthetic DMARDs.

In "Pregnancy Complications More Common in RA, Not Spondyloarthritis," we highlight findings reported in The Journal of Rheumatology that shows of 312,081 pregnant women with rheumatoid arthritis, spondyloarthritis or no inflammatory arthritis, women with rheumatoid arthritis were more likely to have pregnancy complications.

Once arthritic flares subside, so do feelings of fatigue in rheumatoid arthritis patients. Is this true or false?
(©Shutterstock_170632475)
In "Fatigue Still Persists Long After Arthritic Flares Subside," we highlight a study that shows while new treatments for rheumatoid arthritis can effectively control inflammation, they do little to improve quality of life indicators-like fatigue.
